The story follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student with freakish natural athleticism who spends his time with the Occult Research Club. His life takes a sharp turn when his grandfather passes away, leaving him with two final wishes: „Help people“ and „Die surrounded by others.“
Yuji’s clubmates accidentally unseal a high-grade cursed object — a rotting, mummified finger — which attracts dangerous „Curses“ (monsters born from human negative emotions) to the school. To save his friends and the sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji swallows the finger. Instead of dying, he becomes the vessel for Ryomen Sukuna, the legendary „King of Curses.“
Because Sukuna is too dangerous to be left alive, the Jujutsu authorities sentence Yuji to death. However, his teacher, Satoru Gojo, intervenes with a „stay of execution“: Yuji will live until he finds and consumes all 20 of Sukuna’s fingers, at which point he will be executed to destroy Sukuna forever.
Yuji enrolls in the secret Tokyo Jujutsu High School. He meets the third member of his first-year squad, Nobara Kugisaki, and they head out on their first mission together to exorcise curses in an abandoned building.
